Meet Jackie
I was born and raised in New Jersey. My mom and auntie were public school teachers in New Jersey for decades, and my sister and I are both the product of excellent public schools. My dad worked for many years at the old Ciba Geigy site here in town, and I have fond memories of special family dinners at Winberie’s on Springfield Ave. As a teenager, Summit was the cool downtown to drive to for ice cream on the weekend. Anchored by these memories and bolstered by the excellent public schools, vibrant downtown and arts scene, wonderful community organizations, and beautiful green spaces, I have long known Summit is where I wanted to raise my family.
I met my wonderful husband at Princeton University, where I studied public policy with a focus on education, and then went on to law school at George Washington University in D.C. I practiced corporate law at Perkins Coie and then moved to in-house legal counsel at Zillow, where I managed the corporate and employment law functions as vice president and assistant general counsel. I went on to serve as associate general counsel at an insurance tech company and general counsel and head of HR at a property-and-fintech company. I recently stepped away from legal practice and am working on my master’s in public administration through the University of North Carolina School of Government.
I have served on the Summit Public Art committee for 3 years, most recently acting as lead liaison with artist Eirini Linardaki on the Summit Sanctuary mural. I am also a board member of the Fortnightly Club, leading community engagement efforts. I chair the leadership council for Room to Grow, a non-profit supporting low-income families in the South Bronx, where I have served as a board member for 5 years. And I am a member of the professionals board for Covenant House Newark.
I am lucky to have a vivacious young daughter and am in the process of adopting our son from Thailand.
